| SEO - What to expect. |

I'm finally writing an article, more like an epic at this point, on SEO - What to Expect.
My new clients will have to sign it in blood... haha. Actually I hope to address all the misconceptions and fasle expectations to make my life a bit easier. I read an article this morning that seem to reiterate what I've been thinking... that this new update is just a continuation of the FU.... reckon?

Great! I'm sticking with other engines still. As a consumer (I never leave the house to buy anything unless it's produce) I can't find ANYTHING I search for on Google. Very frustrating... If I wanted a directory search or Amazon search, I would have gone straight there.
As the SEO world turns... so do the serps of our life.

| Google FU II |

My attorneys are still lost... lots n lots of directory sites coming up though. I'm going to wait about 10 days before I start number cranking, see If I can get these guys back up in the top 10. Last FU my analysis panned out in such a way that I was able to get everyone back up where they were, pretty much. I lost about 4 keyword phrases out of ~50 clients. Not too bad considering I haven't found anyone else who *figured it out*. I haven't posted my methods/analysis either. I'm holding it all close as I figure the industry is in for a big shakeup this year. Oh the benefits of being a mathematician in this field :)
I was told that my clients getting their ranking back was circumstantial. Ha! That the results eventually *settled down* and things went back to normal... if this were true how come my clients rankings, that came back, were right there with the dmoz, amazon and other directory sites? Curious :) Then they asked for my methods :)
There hasn't been any articles written this go around like there was last time. Mostly people are scrambling on what to name it. Every forum has its own name for this update while I maintain it's just a *part 2* of the FU. I think this new algorithm is just being applied slowly to different industries. Why do I think this? The first FU, none of my attorneys were affected - I have many. This update they were ALL affected while the previous industries that were affected, of my clients, were untouched. My own design site fell off the map, then I applied my technique and suddenly I was back at #1 along with the frank sinatra sites and other bogus directories - post FU trauma.
Only time will tell what is really happening but I think we're just seeing the first of many "FU's".

Just found out from the post on Jills forum that the other data centers had the dns aliases removed so people like me wouldn't use the GoogleDance.com tool. Follow the latest on the Flordia Update II here:

| Google - Opps I think I did it again... |

Google is currently going through another index and people on a whole aren't very happy from what I'm seeing in the major SEO forums. Seems that my lawyers/attorneys were affected by this (I head/founded an SEO unit for an Attorney portal) majorly... they've all fallen off the Google radar but are doing better in MSN. A new SEO client who's page was doing well before the SEO is no where to be found... in Google. Is the FU slowly trickling out to other *areas* of Ecommerce? The Attorney/Lawyers, who were not phased are now and I see plenty of directory/dmoz sites in their place. Nothing relevant.
The GoogleDance seems to indicate that a lot of the data centers are down... not sure what this mean.

BACKTRACK
After the Florida FU in November my site, KELIE.COM, fell to the depths of hell... I couldn't find it in the first 100 SEPR's. I spent a week doing some anaysis on my competitors, my clients, scroogle (which is defunct now) and came up with some great results as to why the site dropped. I applied my findings to my site and lo n behold, I was back at #1 for my keyword phrase:
Albuquerque Web Design
I since applied it to some of my client sites that fell, they're back on top too. I replicated my methods with positive results EXCEPT for any client that had
Real Estate
in their keyword pharse. For some reason this phrase is still *nabbed* by Google and not producing any real relevant results, even today.

| Search Engines: Who owns who? |

Let's revisit who owns who out there:
Yahoo owns Inktomi, Overture/AlltheWeb/AltaVi sta, and was using Google results until just recently. Some people have already reported seeing Inktomi results in the SERP's. We all knew it was going to happen and now is the perfect time given the Google FU/IPO. We need some competition out there!
MSN uses Overture, LookSmart & Inktomi and owns none of their own technology yet. Bill did try to buy (or made an offer, there were talks) Google but nothing came of that.
Looksmart owns Wisenut
AskJeeves owns Teoma
ODP/DMOZ is owned by AOL/Netscape
This is going to be the year of the SEO shakedown. With Google IPOing... Yahoo! using their own technology... Bill getting ansy about trying to rule the SEO market (and everything else he can get his hands on...) no telling what will happen.

I'm back...! I had removed my blog late last year because it was published in a place I wasn't too stoked about. I had some research that I wasn't ready for the entire world to see (yes I realize the the Internet is open source...)
With that in mind I'll post some of the important articles I've found over the past few weeks concering SEO and search engines in general.
