PR - Googles Page Rank
04.30.04 (5:43 pm)
I've had a lot of people ask me about PR lately... What I thought of it, how did it work in SEO, etc. I personally think the tool has been wonked up since late last summer. I've seen people really obsess with it. It's a nifty tool I guess, but I don't much thought into it. There are more accurate tools when it comes to reporting the backlinks to your site and much more important elements of SEO.

Here is a timely articles on this subject:

as the SEO world turned....
04.16.04 (11:14 am)
Everyone has a tool bar these days... I'm skeptical. How many of these are spyware gimmics? HotBot just announced theirs:

http://searchenginewatch.com/searchday/article.php/3339921" title="http://searchenginewatch.com/searchday/article.php/3339921" target="_blank"http://searchenginewatch.com/...

They're getting more and more sophisticated... I had a reinstall on my main development computer and didn't install my Google toolbar. I'm all toolbar-ed out.

Amazon's A9 Launches Beta Search Site

and guess what? They have a toolbar too. I'm #1 thre for my KWP, looks like they use the following to power their search:

Search results enhanced by Google. Results also provided by A9.com, Alexa, and Amazon.com.

Nice colors. Looks like exact Google results to me.

SEO and strep throat
04.12.04 (2:27 pm)
I've been out of the loop with strep throat... the whole house had it so when i wasn't delerious in a fever induced hallucination, I was taking care of someone that was.

I'm sure everyone has seen Googles LOCAL SEARCH
http://www.google.com/help/faq_local.html" title="http://www.google.com/help/faq_local.html" target="_blank"http://www.google.com/help/fa...

I'm not sure I like it... especially since I'm not listed anywhere ... biased? My clients defeintely don't like it. I had an E-mail asking me how their competetors got on top when they didn't. Good Q. I wrote Google to add me and even got a reply back. I'm still not listed anywhere. It's still in beta tho... so we'll see.

Google has announced they're going to launch their own E-mail service. Mucho contriversio around this one... mostly concerning the issue of privacy:

Those crazy people at Google, what are they going to do next? They're all over the place.

I did find this Google tool, which I thought was pretty cool:

http://soople.com/" title="http://soople.com/" target="_blank"http://soople.com/

It's one site that'll perform all those special Google functions.

Here's something no one should live without, their own SEO glossary:
